How to Turn On or Off Bing Desktop to Run at Windows Startup

Bing Desktop is available for computers that are running XP, Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8, as well as Windows Server 2008 and 2012, and is available in English (US), English (UK), French, German, Chinese (Simplified), and Japanese.

Bing Desktop can be installed from the optional updates section in Windows Update, or directly from Microsoft Bing desktop. Bing Desktop provides an automatic update of the Windows Desktop Background image to the Bing home page image each day.

This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off having Bing Desktop automatically run at startup in XP, Vista, Windows 7, and Windows 8.

Note   Note
The BingDesktop.exe file is located in the folder below.

64-bit Windows:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft\BingDesktop

32-bit Windows:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft\BingDesktop



Here's How:

1. Open your installed Bing Desktop, click/tap on the settings Gear.jpg gear icon, click/tap on General, and do step 2 or 3 below for what you would like to do. (see screenshot below)

2. To Turn On Bing Desktop to Run at Windows Startup
A) Click/tap on the Automatically open when Windows starts check box to fill it, and go to step 4 below.​

3. To Turn Off Bing Desktop to Not Run at Windows Startup
A) Click/tap on the Automatically open when Windows starts check box to clear it, and go to step 4 below.​

4. If you like, you can minimizeMinimize.jpg or exit (close) Bing Desktop.
