Running setup from Sources\Setup.exe gives you those options.

    Hello AEM,

I already did in the tutorial below.

The tutorial on this thread is for a upgrade, so it's suppose to replace the currently installed OS.

Back and using W8 with Tools. That was quick and it did reboot just as soon as i finished my previous post. I wonder if there is a switch that can be put in to ask for reboot like with most installations.

    That's great news AEM.

"switch that can be put in to ask for reboot"

Sorry mate, but ask for reboot from what?

Do you mean a restart computer option?

A Restart option switch would be good. By switch i meant command line switche, e.g setup.exe /quite if you want a quiet installation.

When I ran the setup earlier, it started to do it's thing, i then alt+tab to go back to the forum and do post #23. Just as i hit Reply, Windows Restarts..

Has anyone ran setup.exe with with /unattend or /noreboot?

I imaging it would work but have not tried it.

    Ah, I got you now.

I tested both command switches in a elevated command prompt from within a Windows 7 VM to install Windows 8 on another partition, and here are the results I got.

    setup.exe /noreboot -

When it got to the first restart point, the installation stopped and you had to manually restart the computer to finish the installation. However, from this point on, it still restarted the computer automatically as normal.

    setup.exe /unattend -

The installation would go as far as "Setup is starting", then shortly gives the error below and cannot continue with the installation. This one was a complete failure.

Thanks Brink for the test. I suppose this sort of install is not aim for home use.

Unattended install is a different animal, you need to have an answer file (autounattend.xml in win7) on the disk that'll input values automatically.
