information   Information
This tutorial will show you how to turn on or off the schedule to automatically create a backup that you had previously setup in Windows 8.

You must be signed in as an administrator to be able to turn the backup schedule on or off in Windows 8.

Here's How:

Note   Note
In Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1, the Windows 7 File Recovery (aka: Windows Backup) feature in this tutorial is no longer available.

If you like, you could use File History instead of Windows Backup, and a custom refresh image instead of System Image. You could also use a 3rd party program like Macrium Reflect instead.

1. Open the Control Panel (icons view), and click/tap on the Windows 7 File Recovery icon.

2. Do step 3 or 4 below depending on what you already have set.

3. To Turn On Backup Schedule in Windows 8
A) Click/tap on the Turn on schedule link in the middle under Backup. (see screenshot below)

B) If prompted by UAC, then click/tap on Yes.
C) If you would like to make changes to the schedule, then click/tap on the Change settings link, and pick up at step 4 here (click on this link).
D) When finished, go to step 5 below.

4. To Turn Off Backup Schedule in Windows 8
A) Click/tap on the Turn off schedule link on the left side. (see screenshot below)
