How to Change the Region Home Location of your PC in Windows 8 and 8.1

The country or region setting in Windows 8, referred to as geographic location (GeoID), indicates the country or region that you're in. Some software, including Windows 8, may provide you with additional content for a particular location. Some services provide you with local information such as news and weather.

This tutorial will show you how to change your PC's country or region GeoID home location in Windows 8, Windows RT, Windows 8.1, and Windows RT 8.1.






OPTION ONE

To Change PC Region Home Location using Control Panel


1. Open the Control Panel (icons view), click/tap on the Region icon, and close the Control Panel.​
2. Click/tap on the Location tab, select your country or region under "Home Location", and click/tap on OK. (see screenshot below)​

OPTION TWO

To Change PC Region Home Location using PC settings in Windows 8.1


1. In Windows 8.1 and Windows RT 8.1, open PC settings, click/tap on Time & language on the left side, and go to step 4 below. (see screenshot below)​

2. Click/tap on Region & language on the left side of "Time & language", click/tap on the drop down menu under Country or region on the right, and select your current home location (ex: United States). (see screenshots below)​

8. When finished, you can close PC settings if you like.​
