Hi all.

I have a full windows 8.1 tablet (not RT), original and comes with Office too, (got the keys). The internal eMMc is 32GB so I learnt from windows that the recovery partition can be copied to a USB. So I did and windows asked, do I want to delete the recovery partition, so I deleted it to create bigger space.

Now, I have some problem with my windows, virus and stuff, so I wanted to recover from USB. The problem is, how do I make full recover from the USB? Some sites say I cannot do it due to I've changed the partition? What?

If anyone knows, it would be so much appreciated.

Step One:

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/53296-usb-drive-boot-within-windows-8-a.html

Connect your Windows 8/8.1 recovery USB flash drive.

If you have Windows 8.1 or Windows RT 8.1

A) On the left side in PC settings, click/tap on Update & Recovery. (see screenshot below)

B) On the left side in Update & Recovery, click/tap on Recovery, click/tap on the Restart now button under the Advanced startup section on the right side. (see screenshot below)

After the computer restarts, click/tap on the Use a device option. (see screenshot below)

OR

- Connect your Windows 8/8.1 recovery USB flash drive.
- Restart the computer.
- Press the correct key to enter the boot menu (see this link for help).
- Select your USB flash drive from the boot menu (see screenshot below).

Step Two:

Click/tap on Troubleshoot (see screenshot below).

Click/tap on the Reset your PC option (see screenshot below).

The most Windows 8.1 tablets have a Micro SD card slot or USB port. You can add removable storage to expand your tablet’s storage, so you have more options than you do on an iPad or Nexus tablet.

Welcome to EightForums

Have you made the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Disks?

information   Information

We always assume you have made your Recovery Disks using the OEM manufacturer's Recovery Media Creator app the first day you had your new PC.
& made the Startup Repair CD. (Windows 8 only)

I would recommend you making the OEM manufacturer's Recovery DVD's or USB drive.
or
You can order the Microsoft official OEM Recovery disks from the OEM manufacturer's website.

if you created a USB recovery drive (via the built-in Windows method), just have that plugged in and turn your Surface on.

follow the instructions in genet's post #3
