Hi guys,

My company recently bought a Microsoft Surface tablet and my boss wants me to enable encryption for it. I found a guide to do it from Microsoft's website but the problem is, my boss does not want to enable encryption with a Microsoft account. Also, no Microsoft account was used or created for the Surface as well.

Is there any way to enable encryption without having to use a Microsoft account? Looking forward to your suggestions. Thanks!

When using Bitlocker you have several options on where you want to store the key, at my work we print them out to later input them into keypass and place the paper in one of our locked shredder bins.

Also I would recommend opening gpedit and going Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Bitlocker Drive Encryption and select "Choose drive encryption and cipher strength". Click "Enable" and in the drop down for cipher strength select 256 bit, otherwise default is 128 bit.
