Hello Kwitel, and welcome to Eight Forums. :)

Do you have a 3rd party AV program installed? Usually a new OEM PC will come with a trial AV program installed.

Some 3rd party antivirus (AV) programs may turn off Windows Defender when they are installed to be used instead, and will not allow Windows Defender to be turned back on until the 3rd party AV has been completely uninstalled.

You know I thought I had nothing running on here but I actually have a free version of McAfee. Dont know how I missed that.
That said, I removed it completely, but still cannot turn it on.

Did you use the total uninstallation tool from McAfee, Consumer Products Removal tool? Simply uninstalling the antivirus program via the Control Panel won't remove everything and might not allow you to run another antivirus program until it's removed completely; you need to use this tool to remove everything. After that, then try.

Just used it, went through the whole process, its still turned off.

EDIT: scratch the above, it worked. Thanks to all for the help!
