I have just wiped my hard disk and installed Win8.1. After hours of work re-installing all my applications I have somehow accidentally installed "OkayFreedom". I don't know where it came from. Possibly Filezilla? Possibly LibreOffice?
- What exactly is OkayFreedom?
- What is the best/cleanest way to get rid of it?
(e.g. is it worth using "advanced uninstaller pro" or similar - which is a utility to clean out crud left behind in the registry)
What is irritating is that Malwarebytes has also discovered "PUP.Optional.InstallCore.SID.A" lurking withing the Filezilla download progam. I just got Malwarebytes to remove the threat. But what a nightmare. Does this mean that I should uninstall Filezilla too? (I have used Filezilla for years as my goto FTP client and thought it was one of the good guys!).
Do I now need to reboot Windows into [emergency-whaver-its-called] mode, run rkill and various anti-malware/anti-virus software and maybe boot of a Bitdefender Rescue CD... Nightmare.
All help welcome.
