turning on Bitlocker with password in Win 8.1 pro

I need help turning on Bitlocker with password (not with flashdrive) on a HP Envy x2 15 inch tablet laptop. It's new and is running Windows 8.1 which I upgraded to Pro edition.

Bitlocker will turn on and function, but only via flashdrive key. When I attempt to turn on Bitlocker, it only offers the option to use a flashdrive. I don't want to use a flashdrive due to fears of loss. I want the password option. No matter what I do, I can't seem to get the password option to appear as an option.

Searches on Windows help and Microsoft help have produced no results other than the same general instructions to turn on Bitlocker in the same ways I have already tried. When I search the problem, no articles appear - null search results.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? And does anyone have a solution to try other than the usual turn on Bitlocker and select password.

Thanks much.

I have been through this process at least 4 times. I am able to turn on Bitlocker without TPM chip using these instructions. Unfortunately, though this process will allow me to use Bitlocker, it is only with the flashdrive option, as I explained in my original post. I want to use the password option, which does not show up after I follow these instructions. Any other help?

Do you have a password option in Manage BitLocker?
