Laptop getting multiple popups

My mother has a lenovo laptop running Windows 8. She uses AVG Pro but is still getting tons of popups and gets frustrated when it takes her five minutes to do one thing. I've run AVG scans and it's coming back clean. I run Malwarebytes and it comes back with a ton of stuff that I remove and it's good for about an hour and starts doing it again, I get back on Malwarebytes and it finds a bunch more stuff. She doesn't do much with her laptop except pays bills, looks up crafting and recipe ideas, and Facebook. What could be going on here?

Re: Malwarebytes - run it in safemode and more than once. Some can be quite stubborn to remove.

A few good pointers can be found here:
Remove Pop-up Ads from Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome

Also look for unrecognised programmes (control panel --- Programms) and delete from there. Browsers may have to be reset back to their default state to remove any re-direction malware.

Good advice here. I install MalwareBytes Premium on my family's pc's and it prevents these issues....

Time to replace AV. For example: Bitdefender Antivirus Free or Panda Free Cloud Antivirus.
Check her browser's extensions and uninstall all unknown, probably generating popups.
You can use adguard, desktop version works for all browsers: Adguard blocks popups.
