Right now, I have Panda installed. But, I was wondering if I should try the free version of Malware bytes. Is it the same as Panda, or better?

Malwarebytes Free edition doesn't provide continual system protection that would prevent a malware infection. You have to run it manually to detect what you system has picked up and then it will detect infections and remove them. But since it is not always running, it doesn't prevent malware infections, it only cleans them up with a manual system scan.

The Malwarebytes Pro (paid) edition does provide continual system protection to prevent malware infections in addition to scheduled automatic system scans.

Panda Free Antivirus does provide continual system protection from malware and prevents it from running.

You will find that a lot of our senior members will advocate the use of the free Malwarebytes as an addition to their personal choice of real time anti malware application. This is run manually on a regular basis.

As no one application can ever be 100% effective, it is always best to employ a layered approach starting of course with good safe surfing practices, then the use of a real time anti malware application, Malwarebytes provides a third layer, just in case anything is missed.

Hope this helps :)

I'm sticking with Panda.
You can stick with panda and still use Malwarebytes free at some times to check for stuff Panda may let thru, AVs are not usually made to do same things and deal with same threats.

Well, on the Windows 7 laptops, I have MSE working, Panda, and Spybot. 8.1 will only let you use one antivirus program. So, if I install Spybot or Malware Bytes along with Panda on the 8.1 computer, it will disable Panda. Or does it just disable Windows Defender?

Malwarebytes free is non resident and is not going to disable any AV including Defender. You still can't use two full time resident AVs but MBAM free is not resident, so no problem.

What about Spybot?
I used Spybot with Tea Time for few years but new versions didn't do as much, clumsy and overbearing they became and seem to be stuck in everlasting beta mode. Replaced it with Mbam free because I'm too cheap to buy full version. I'm pretty careful when browsing, downloading and installing stuff but because of doing a lot of that, few PUPs sneaked in and were easily dealt with by it.
