Solved Malwarebytes 2.0 crashes when scanning certain items.

Hello all, today I've attempted to scan my computer with Malwarebytes 2.0 (or to be more specific, 2.0.1.1004). I noticed it would periodically hang on certain items it tries to scan, although it would continue to scan after a minute or two has passed. However, after reaching the particular items around 80k or 90k it would just 'freeze', continually scanning that one item, even after 10mins had passed, it would still stay on that one item. The items I've noticed are either the Windows Store PNG items, or the Wallpaper Themes.

Any attempts at either stopping or closing the program have failed, pausing it does nothing, hard-drive activity is still prevalent as if my hard-drive was still being scanned, canceling does NOT stop the scan process, even closing the program doesn't stop it from 'scanning', forcing me to end Malwarebytes through the Task Manager, the results are the same in either safe mode or regular boot.

I'm wondering whether if my machine is either incompatible with 2.0, or if my installation is just corrupted. I've done the scan at-least half a'dozen times today, all with negative results. Is it better if I just rollback to the next to newest version? (1.6 or 7 was it?)

If anyone can provide assistance, i'd very much appreciate it.

It wouldn't hurt to also run a scan with AdwCleaner, just to check if there is something lurking on your system Mbam is having problems with.

AdwCleaner Download

If you believe your installation is corrupted, your could uninstall/reinstall Mbam & see if the same problem persists after that.

@4wd Thanks, i'll try to see if I can get what my older laptop is using right now.

@Borg 386 Is there any particular way I should have AdwCleaner set up, I mean certain parameters activated, or just all of them to be safe?

No, just d/l it & hit the scan button. After the scan, you'll be presented with the results. Note there are different tabs for different scan areas. (Services, Folders, Files, etc) Clicking on those will show what suspicious files have been found in each area.

@Phone Man Have you had any problems with the BETA, and do you recommend me doing my scans in Safe Boot?

@Phone Man I noticed the uninstaller version is (2.0.2.0) will that work with my (v2.0.1.1004) Free Edition that I got from CNET?

Is the BETA also a free-edition or a Trial?
Please Respond as Soon as You Can.

Thank You in Advance

The new Beta works better than the released 2.0 version and is available as a Free or Trial and gives you a choice during install or you can use you 1.7 key. MB does not recommend using Safe Mode as it is looking for active infections that may not show in the Safe Mode.
That uninstaller version works for all versions of MB.
