Trying to remove these files:

I'm usually pretty good about removing things from my computer but this darn Scorpion Saver is just driving me insane. So let me tell you guys what I have done so, which is about everything I could find online. I've tried just about every avenue here so sorry but this is going to be long.

-First I tried control panel and uninstall it presented a messaged saying my access was denied.

-Then I went through all 3 of my browsers and removed the home page tabs and plugins it had installed and restored all defaults (this finally gave me my normal home pages back yay!) Access was still denied to uninstall.

- I tried to start my computer in safe mode w/net working by pressing f8 repeatedly- it didn't work.
- I tried to start it by pressing shift and f8 also didn't work.
-I tried going into command prompt and typed in 'bcdedit /set {default} safeboot network' which told me access was denied.
- I was finally able to start up in safe mode by running msconfig and going to the boot menu and clicking the safe mode with networking reboot option.

-I then ran Malware Bytes Anti-Malware, Norton Antivirus 360, and Spy Bot Search and destroy (no pages up in background, ran them one at a time). I ran all these at full system scan. MBAM found 27 issues fixed them all, NAV360 found none (??), and then SBSD found a 200+ issues also fixed them all.

-I tried to uninstall after running each program and it wasn't until I had ran all 3 (spybot being the last) that I finally got a new message when trying to uninstall through control panel for each of the 3 scorpion saver programs in my control panel:

- So now the problem is I can not locate the file. I've looked in the Programs folder and in the Programs X86 folder. I have no other program folders. These are the messages that come up when I just try to press okay or select different files

Try CCleaner. It has an uninstall feature that is better than Control Panel and even malware shows up and can usually be uninstalled...

Have a look at this article, it has a lot of removal options:

Remove Scorpion Saver ads (Virus Removal Guide)

From what I've read, it's quite a pain to remove it. You may want to consider doing a refresh on your OS.
They are missing using Farbar's FRST & Minitoolbox. I had a neighbor that had this. Took a bit, but with the two Farbar tools I listed, helps to get it off the system.

Scorpion is a persistent little bugger of a piece of malware. It can be removed with a little time and effort.

Someone in Seven Forums recently had the same problem & managed to remove it with Revo Uninstaller. The freeware version will work fine.

Download Revo Uninstaller Freeware - Free and Full Download - Uninstall software, remove programs, solve uninstall problems

Be sure to read the documentation fully before using this tool. Used improperly, you can easily hose your OS. When deleting Registry keys, delete only the ones that are in bold. See the tutorial for further instructions.

azasadny,

Please use the tool Zoek:
Download zoek.exe version 5.0.0.0
Select the Zoek.exe version, and, save to the Desktop.

On the Desktop, right-click the Zoek.exe file and select: Run as Administrator (Give it a few seconds to appear.)
If your AntiVirus warns you about the program, either allow Zoek to run, or temporarily disable your AV program.
Info on how to disable your security applications > How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs - Security Mini-Guides

Next, copy/paste the entire script inside the code box below to the input field of Zoek:
Code:
StandardSearch;
installer-list;
installedprogs;
uninstall-list;

Note: This script is written only for use on this computer. Please do not use it on another computer even if the problems are similar!

Now...
  • Close any open Browsers.
  • Click the Run script button, and wait. It takes a few minutes to run all the script.
  • When the tool finishes, the zoek-results.log is opened in Notepad.
  • The log is also found on the systemdrive, normally C:\
  • If a reboot is needed log is opened after the reboot.

Please post the zoek-results.log in your reply.
