Hi,

I've tried everyting in my knowledge to fix this but nothing works, i think due to a malware attack.

So i recently installed windows 8.1m previously i had windows 8 pro running. But now all the sudden i have encountered different errors:

1. no matter what i do, i cannot acces windows defender. when i try to open it from the tray icon it does not do any thing. when i open it from de action center it responds with cannot find ''. i've tried opening it from the program files and it says it cant open it either since it cant find the exe file. Also, i have searched the net for the best registry values and executed this. Did not help at all.

2. I cannot download anything! whenever i try installing an antivirus the download stops or the installer just stops and gives an error message. i don't have any permission to do anything!

3. i cannot use systemrestore. whenever i try to use it, it just tells me system restore cannot be opened. i tried doing this in safe mode and i can open it, but after a while just gives me an error message again saying it has nog been completed

4. i cannot use refresh or reset feature. is asks me for the installation disc and when i do this, it still asks for the installation disc. i also cannot run the setup on the installation disk,.
Sorry for my spelling and thanks in advance.

Hi Gianlucapunzo94,

Sorry to hear you are having so many issues and welcome to the forum :)

Potentially if you are not able to even load the disk when you are trying to boot in to it you could have a corrupt media.

do you have access to a computer where you could go through steps to download a new iso and and create a bootable USB?

How to do this:

http://www.eightforums.com/tutorials/18309-windows-8-windows-8-1-iso-download-create.html

my preferred method of Creating a bootable USB:

^^ you can create this and then try using the reset feature and so on.

Also you can try running:

in an elevated command prompt, to launch press : :winkey: + X then :winkey: + A

Now in the command prompt type and then press enter:

SFC /SCANNOW

if this was unsuccessful please run:
Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

^^ Should be ran while on the internet will attempt to use Windows Update.

Then assuming all has gone well :)

please use

SFC /Scannow

Then restart

This may be your best bet though especially if you know this was a malware attack I assume it has not been properly taken care of with all your system issues. To safe you time and the potential you will not be able to successfully remove the malware your best bet could be a clean install. Of course if you are going to do this make sure you have your important files if any backed up. Then you can go through the following procedure:>

Clean Install:

Hope this helps,

Cheers,
Harry
