Good to know.

Just a quick heads up to RFID which is radio frequency ID and is a chip on many credit cards, You can ask to have it removed but it is going to be on all cards soon. You only have to touch a pad to a pocketbook for example and the data is transferred. Then swiping it into a credit card creator you can make a credit card out of your library card for example.
They are selling sleeves but aluminum foil around the credit cards does the trick.

I know I shouldn't make light of scam artists, but I had to laugh of this guys way of handling them.

Although, it seems to me that there's some confusion regarding who people should be reporting the scammers to. According to the Federal Trade Commission, people should report it to them, so that's three different organisations. I wonder whether these organisations communicate with each other and amalgamate the complaints they receive?

That said it usually seems to be the FTC who take action with these types of complaints:

It's been said, the best way to kill phone solicitors and scam artists is to bait them and waste their time, however, the majority of these are career criminals and should be treated as such.
It is best to:
- document the source if possible and report the incident through proper channels,
- NEVER surrender ANY personal or vital information,
- disable Remote Assistance and Remote Control on your PC, (unless arranged through a trusted source).

I recently had one of these calls from "the technical department". Led them along for quite a few minutes. When we got to one point, he said, "so you know what this is l and I said yes. He asks, " how are you familiar with this utility", I said well I'm a Microsoft certified systems engineer and I work as a systems engineer for a living. Oddly, his phone system must have crashed as our call was suddenly disconnected.

I have various ways of irritating phone idiots. Often I just scream as loud as I can and hang up. Other times when I get a tape first I answer Salem Police department. Other times I just say, "You are a liar, get off my phone." If they say how can I help you, I just say, "Oh, I'm just wasting your time like you are mine."

I use a small, hand held portable Air Horn, the kind used for boats and also used at golf tournaments to signal the halt or restart of play before/after a rain or lightning delay. One long blast into the phone microphone usually leads to some hilarious comments followed by a click and silence. One of the funniest was "What The F$%k Was That?":D:D

lmao Caperjack - yes - I completely understand that the explanation doesn't translate too well on the net compared to real life. I use my imagination a little and I'm sure it was hilarious.
