Whats a good firewall to go with windows defender on win 8

Hi all i have win 8.1 and use windows defender and have been using the windows firewall but i never get any promps for outbound stuff so was looking for a better firewall to use what is a good one to use with the built in windows defender Someone told me comodo firewall was a good one.

It will make changes to your system. For that reason make a restore point to avoid any possible problems.

Yes.

It also comes with a program called Defense Plus. The firewall & defense plus work together. As I said, it is very configurable.

Anytime you install new software, it's a good idea to make a restore point before doing so.

Read though the user manual & you'll get an idea of all the various settings & capabilities.

Not necessarily better. It's more configurable. Most people use Windows built in firewall without any problems. It's your choice.

The firewall that's built-in to Win 8.1 is sufficient. Firewalls don't stop most of the things people think they will because they are not designed to.

For the "average" user that doesn't use computers in grey areas or for one that doesn't care about privacy, yes, that's most true.

For advanced users or privacy-concerned users, that's far from true.

Also, there is malware to consider - being able to communicate outbound without your knowledge - with just router firewall and Windows Firewall.
