Malwarebytes should not run with McAfee security

A McAfee technician had to remote control my laptop to get rid of a 'Trial period' of McAfee. She asked me if she could remove 'Malwarebytes' which I had downloaded. She said it contravenes with McAfee's security. Is this a fact? Or maybe they don't like competition!

@robinpe: Probably is true but you can disable Malwarebytes 'Protection Module' and run it periodically as a standalone application, eg.: right click file scan.

Malwarebytes (The free version) is an on demand scanner unless you paid for the pro version, in which case it is running real time protection in the background. Then it could cause a conflict.

McFubar (McAfee) has caused lots of problems with Windows in the past, you may wish to opt for another AV.

I have seen this behavior before on other machines running Norton. Although the version of Malwarebytes was the free, on demand version, there was still the occasional warning from Norton about a possible conflict. An on demand scanner may pose a possible problem, but I have never seen the on demand version clash with any AV program myself.

1.) [Not that you did - just confirming for general posterity] Don't ever give control of your machine if someone has called you – ever. Call them, and confirm the phone number first via a search.
2.) You can run this McAfee uninstall tool instead, to completely remove McAfee from your machine (as I did – with Malwarebytes installed – non Pro [for now])

Instructions - How to uninstall or reinstall supported McAfee products using the Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR)

I'm running NIS and Pro Malwarebytes with no issues, about a year ago NIS was giving a notice that Malwarebytes was not compatible. This was fixed within a week or so with us all complaining on their support forum.
