Networking and BitLocker

Hi everyone, first post here.

Say you have a Windows 8 PRO system in an office environment being used as a Quickbooks server and sharing a few other files with other users on a network. This Windows 8 PRO PC is using BitLocker drive encryption via TPM where you must enter a pin number on boot and a password to log into windows. Other users on the network, mainly other quickbooks users who need to be able to work with the quickbooks company files that are on the Bitlocker machine, are using various versions of windows none of which are a PRO addition. They also occasionally log into their PC’s remotely, say using gotomypc or similar to access the same company files.
Are there going to be any issues?
If the Windows 8 Pro systems is just logged off but not shut down I’m thinking everything should work just fine but I have no experience with BitLocker so I could be wrong. Which is why I am here.

It should work fine. Once the machine is on you won't notice any difference with a bitlocker enabled drive. Not running quickbooks but we use other programs with a mixed network and they work as if bitlocker doesn't exist.

Bitlocker effects the local computer's access to the drive. Once that is established all network users will have access as well, subject of course to NTFS permissions and sharing restrictions.

Say a network connected user copies one of the shared files to a flash drive. I'm guessing it is not encrypted at this point but not sure. Is it?

You are correct, it would not be encrypted - unless the usb he copied to was encrypted also. This may help BitLocker Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

It sounds like BitLocker is not going to do what I'm looking for.
I guess I'm going to have to keep looking.
What I need is a way to share these files (Quickbooks and others) over the network and have users be able to use them but not be able to copy one of them to a flash drive and leave with it decrypted.
I'm sure this is possible as many large enterprises more than likely do this type of thing.
I know this is a Win8 forum but can anyone point me in the right direction?

What an enterprise would do is disable the use of a flash drive. Allowing the use of a flash drive in a setting where security is an issue is asking for trouble.

I understand. I'm sure they have all kinds of other policies in place that prevents users from also emailing, or using dropbox or similar methods to get files off site.
