The Best Sandboxing Software

Hello, this is a post branching off my previous post since I cannot add a poll from there. I've picked the ones that were either mentioned on my old post or the most popular ones.

Interesting to see that more than one (free) option exist.

Personally I use virtualization (VirtualBox or VMware Player) to test specific programs and so to sandbox them when needed.

As I previously advised the OP, Avast 8 includes an auto-sandbox function and is not a standalone program.

Autosandboxing:
The way I see it, if the antivirus detects a program it will automatically run it in a sandbox.
However, in order to detect it, the user needs to be online for the av to connect to the cloud where a malware database will be checked.

That article was written for Avast 7 and Avast 8 is a total rewrite so the contents may not exactly apply. Anyway, here is a screenshot of my Avast 8 sandbox options. I can tell you that most of those options do not require an online query; however, the reputation one would... but that is only one detection element of the full detection suite.

This question is irrelevant to the topic but I'll ask anyways since your good at avast.
In the article that Hopachi posted (thanks!) I saw a picture (https://blog.avast.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/avast_AutoSandbox.jpg). My question is: how do I make avast give me those alerts if I downloaded a malicious program?

The first alert should come from Avast 8 when the download is attempted. This is not a sandbox function. It is a general AV proactive protection warning. This would give you advanced notice and you could abort the download before it completes; thereby, avoiding infection. Now, thank you for thinking I'm good at Avast but I'm really no more than an average user with a protection scheme that works for me. Again, I have never had an infection; period. That is not to say that you would have the same success using the same scheme but it works for me. At this point, I think you just need to go with sandboxie and be done with it. Good luck.
