Solved defender not on

hi everyone

I have a new laptop and it has a trial version of McAfee Internet Security running, is this the reason that my
Defender programme is not working.

When this trial version runs out will my defender programme start working.

It may not, because when the trial runs out, McAfee is still installed and functioning, it just doesn't update with new virus definitions.

Once you uninstall it, Windows will at least warn you that your AV software is not running (it may even turn on Defender automatically, I haven't checked). At any rate, after uninstalling third-party AV, you can re-enable Defender in the Support Center via the Control Panel.

thanks for your help, when the trial runs out and I uninstall will I need a new security programme, I was thinking
about AVG free version, or will my defender programme do all that I need.
