Microsoft Security Essentials Fails AV-Test Certification

Above links describe recent failures by MSE. Is MSE/Defender in Win8 more secure, if so, what makes it more secure ?

My intent is not to engage a debate about MSE vs other AVs, debate different testing methods, or bash Microsoft. But it is concerning about the recent test failures by MSE.

(Malwarebytes recently detected a rouge link on my system which MSE did not detect. MSE did recently block a Trojan but I was not notified at the time, only noticed when reviewing the weekly activities.)

Windows Defender is MSE in Windows 8 with a bit more. It has the ability to monitor on boot up and has an antivirus program built into it like MSE
Not every antivirus program can detect everything, that is why you need something besides it like Malwarebytes

But don't you have to pay for malwarebytes to get active scanning?

no, if you manually scan you can get almost the same thing, You just cannot get web monitoring and malwarescanning in real time, so it is always scanning. If you want that you need to pay for it.

I'm late to the party, but just an FYI--keep an eye on Newegg for discounts on Malwarebytes if considering purchasing.

I got mine for $10 each on sale, and I see it offered in their email sales with some frequency.
