MBAM and MBAM Pro both work flawlessly on Windows 8 currently. It's not designed to be a sole AV, but to compliment a layer of added protection to your already existing AV such as Windows Defender.

You do realize Malwarebytes is not an antivirus program. It is an anti spyware program. You still need a antivirus program. WD and Malwarebytes play nice together. Just make sure if you get the pro version you do not run the scans at the same date and time

Yo set WD to scan lets say Monday at 2 pm weekly you cannot set Malwarebytes pro to scan at the same time and date. If you do this they will fight each other and one or both or even windows will crash so you set Malwarebytes to can daily at 4 pm. A bit time away from each other just in case

Hi Robinb9

"Yo set WD to scan lets say Monday at 2 pm weekly",

I've removed N360 because of Win 8's WD conflict and have installed MBAM Pro to complement WD.

I can see the point of WD and MBAM scanning at different times to avoid clashing; however, unlike MBAM Pro, I can't see any option in WD which allows me to set scanning for specific days or times.

Under Administrator I can turn WD on or off I and can turn Real Time Protection on or off (then at Risk)
My Scan Options are; Quick, Full, Custom (select location and file types - but NOT choice of scan time/s) - and Scan Now.

Am I missing something?

Regards, Pedro

unfortunately and I have complained about this when I first beta tested Windows 8, Windows Defender is not set to do a scan because there is no option in the program to do this, you need to go into task scheduler and set your own time and date scan

To do this you can click on the Metro UI and highlight Settings- in the search box type: Schedule Tasks
You will get a box. Click on Task Scheduler Library, Click on the Microsoft Folder
You will see the Windows Defender folder- open that one
Click on the right side "Create a Basic Task"
Give it a name and description then click Next
Give it a date and time on when to scan and click next, follow the rest of the directions and you will see the scan set up in the middle
Do it as a weekly scan and make sure again you do not set it near the time Malwarebytes is doing its daily scan

Hi Robinb9,
Thanks for your reply but sorry to say it's my first venture into Scheduling a task. I get so far but am stuck on the Start a Program Window in the Create a Basic Task Wizard pictured in the attached Word file and the insertion below.

I haven't a clue how to complete the various fields in order to complete the creation. If I click on 'browse' I get a very long list of mostly .dll files. Am I to select one of these?
Your further clarification will be appreciated.
Thx, Pedro

You do realize Malwarebytes is not an antivirus program. It is an anti spyware program.

It's a anti-malware program, which does include viruses (MBAM is designed to pick up viruses that may slip by the initial AV).

I do not know who told you it picks up viruses because it is an Antispyware /anti malware program. It will pick up rootkits but those are not considered a virus
