Anti-Malware resources I use and recommend...

I'm not affiliated with these companies at all, I'm just a satisfied customer. These are some resources I use for anti-malware...

Microsoft Security Essentials (free from Microsoft Security Essentials - Microsoft Windows),
install this and keep it running

Ccleaner (Piriform - Download CCleaner, Defraggler, Recuva, Speccy - Millions of users worldwide!)

MalwareBytes (Malwarebytes)

Norton Power Eraser (Norton Power Eraser | Free Tool |Easily remove scamware that traditional virus scanning can)

You can't install MSE on Windows 8, it's hard blocked since Consumer Preview.

MBAM is good, not sure where your link leads to on the site but for people the main site is:
Malwarebytes : Free anti-malware download

SuperAntiSpyware is also good:
SUPERAntiSpyware | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware!

Windows Defender is like MSE, no need to download MSE anymore. His MWB link takes to the download page, your takes to the homepage.

As for security I would just tell them to stick to Win Def, and maybe download MWB for manual scans other than that back ups!
Back ups! Most systems come with a partition to reformat. If you have a backup a fresh install doesn't bother you after a big oops moment.

This wasn't meant to be Windows 8 specific. I'm asked all the time be people what they should run on their PC's and I usually walk them through a few things. They almost always have several anti-virus programs running that haven't been updated (not paid for) and they complain their PC is too slow. Seventeen toolbars and "crapware" in their browser, no Windows updates for two years, old drivers, etc....

i would like to add a good tool that i have used for years ,it add sites to browser security so that browser will not load listed sites.
free ,but cost for automatic update version .

Superantispyware free is a good one also

I’m using Avast and Immunet together to get extra layer of security and Immunet is a light AV so that it won’t slow down the PC.

first let me say its your computer and you can do as you please ,but it was never recommended that you have 2 anti virus programs running on you computer in real time ,so it best to disable realtime scanning on one of them ,and unless you disabled win8 windows defender,default scanned when win8 is installed you might even have 3 scanning the computer at once .
