I know. I've tried that, and I'll be going back to it when they finally get it working.
As for an AV that does currently work, and is free, I'm using PC-Tools: Free AntiVirus Download and Removal | PC Tools AntiVirus
will microsoft security essentials work with windows 8 beta

Might just use the Windows Defender already built in, as it has been enhanced from the Dev preview version, on.

Has anyone tried to install Constant Guard from comcast? It tells me "Browser cookies are disabled" but they aren't when I try to download it.
Or
Does anyone know of a good free Antivirus in case I can't find a way around this?
MSE installs and works flawlessly on x64 DP Build 8102, even better than it does on Windows 7.
Comodo Anti-Virus does not work on x64 DP B8102. Compatibility issues with error "This product is not targeted for this platform" produced. Attempted to force Windows 7 compatibility mode, but the same error comes up.

Just scanned for this with MBAM, and looked in the location. I don't have it.
But I'm running the 64-bit dev tools version.
Are you running the 32 bit version? When I was running it , I remember seeing a reference to 16-bit in the Control Panel.
ntvdm.exe is MS Virtual DOS machine....
Virtual DOS machine
Think it's related to that. Win 8 also does thing a little differently, so I don't think most of these AV's know what's what, or what to do yet. False Positives..
Best bet in the meantime would be to use the built in Enhanced Win Defender .
