torrent users -- beware latest version of Utorrent
Hi there
If you use things like Utorrent (and there are plenty of legit reasons to use some torrents -- Linux distros, Driver packs etc) then DO NOT UPDATE to the latest version of Utorrent.
What it does --even if you don't want the toolbar installed -- adds an "Addon" to IE10 which changes your home page --and it's the devil's own job to undo or get rid of this even if you totally uninstall Utorrent. You can disable the add on but the REMOVE option gets greyed out --also a NO NO in my book.
I'll follow your advice because already from some previous versions, Chrome and Firefox already got toolbars and extensions included, yeah not to mention IE... then you need to uninstall 10 things from 10 different places.
They've made a mess from Utorrent probably since they made PRO version, to make us upgrade.
No on my pc!

Same here, I upgraded to the latest version and no problem. I think the problem is you guys are having fast finger. Please look closely every time you install freewares, they always offer to install additional sh*t such as toolbar, google chrome etc....
just untick those then you won't have any problem. Besides, If you accidentally installed it, it only takes a few minutes at most to clean it up.

Hmmm.. thought I unchecked everything.
I always say "no" and look carefully before I click.
Some items were installed because they aren't mentioned in the checkboxes (depends on version installer). But I guess you don't use or check FFox or Chrome to see additional torrent extensions install all of the sudden.
No big deal guys but the fact that they add more additional - unwanted stuff to the installers is a reality. We'll have to be even more careful now.

I've installed the latest version, and I launched IE (it was dreadful ;n; ) to try and pick up the same thing you described, and I didn't get it.
As long as you untick all the "install toolbar" and "agree with uTirrent web bar blah blah blah" on initial installation, it shouldn't change on an update...

Yes, that's true. Sometimes they just install the extras without prompting you. For IE, just open "Manage Add-on" and disable it, For Firefox, go to Tools->Add-ons and uninstall.
In addition, download Autoruns from MS website. This program will show you the registry entry, file location etc... so you can really clean up and remove them from your PC. Here's the link:

memo to people, you should not just be clicking, clicking, clicking through the install process without knowing what's installing. it's very easy to just pause and uncheck things you don't want installed. I only have utorrent and not all the other stuff installed. All these free software titles have to make money somehow and installing this other stuff brings them money. that's the reality of things.
