    Windows 8.1 Pro

Avira when it becomes 100% compatible with Windows 8, worth the wait IMHO. For now use MSE built into Windows 8.

I test AV at a large Fortune 10 company and we use Symantec Endpoint Protection v12 at work and almost all of us use Microsoft Security Essentials on Win7 and the built-in Windows Defender on Windows 8. I also use MalWareBytes at home. I cannot recommend any other products based upon our testing, that's really all I can say...

I was reading it and got to the review part of Norton and was wondering how they could have possibly rewritten it again completely from the ground up...then I saw the next product was the 2009 version.

No harm done, being aware of security is always valuable.

I was in such a hurry to post some "good info" that I didn't see the date it was published. I skimmed it and saw the list of af AV applications that were reviewed and remembered that many here have asked for reviews and comparisons, so I posted it. When I saw pparks1's response, I got a sick feeling in my stomach. Sorry for posting old garbage, I will be more careful from now on, I promise!

You may opt for any of them Avast, Nod32 or Immunet. Personally Iím using Immunet Plus. I choose this because itís light, fast and inexpensive AV program.

A Good, Free anti-virus program
Help, please! I can't afford a virus program and I badly need a recommendation for a FREE program that will do the job, (without all the bells and whistles). I tried AVG and it was one of those "free for 30 days' nightmares with many add ons and problems. Help appreciated. Using Win 8.1.
