I just want to be as safe as possible i was thinking of using norton 360 and what would b the best Internet browserI'd say the inbox Windows Defender (previously known as Microsoft Security Essentials) and SmartScreen filter should be sufficient for just about anyone, unless you have very specific needs that these two don't already cover.

However, only Internet Explorer and Google Chrome install "modern" versions of their browsers, so right now, those are the only two real options for browsers on Windows 8 (unless you only want desktop browsers - then you have all options available).
As far as i know, Norton hogs up your computer resources.
1) NEVER open email attachments without knowing EXACTLY who sent them and where they came from.
2) If you MUST use torrents - download stuff to a Virtual machine so you can get rid of "Things downloaded" if they include little extra surprises !!.
3) before installing ANYTHING image your system so you can restore it if the application doesn't do what you expected -- saves endless messing about with "Uninstall" or "Registry cleaner" apps.
4) Avoid like the plague those "Sucker applications" or "Sneakerware" like Driver search or similar -- they'll tempt you with all sorts of things like - we've found drivers for you - but then to use the part of the site which "allegedly" has the driver will try and charge you for the service --and all this stuff is public domain anyway.
5) Finally - NEVER EVER download either those "Helper" type apps from these sorts of sites.

what is the best compatible windows 8 security?
The shortest answer is: Windows Defender included in Win8.
Works very well for home and basic internet usage.
Defender alerted me and stated malware was blocked. Only thing different, it stated to reboot to completely remove malware.
