I installed it yesterday on Win 8 x64 Enterprise build 9200 and everything seems to be working fine. I haven't experienced any slowdowns and it has less pop ups than it used too have. Although I haven't used it for about 2 years so its probably just got better with each new version.

I will post again if I find any problems or issues.

Neither BT NetProtect Plus (McAfee) or Avira did not (yet) support W8, so I turned to Comodo (Internet security premium) when I upgraded to W8 last weekend. I can say it seems very effective and I think I'll stay with it. It objects to almost everything - for example Asus AI suite and components. Tell it to ignore known safe programs and it's fine

Why? More crap running on your box. The default Windows firewall is fine.

I'd be gladly using only Windows built-in firewall if there were good ways to control outgoing connections (why isn't there an "ask" option for outgoing connections, only block or allow...?). I was directed to frontends that can do that, and I'll be looking into them.

In the meantime I put comodo firewall (not the whole suite), like I had on windows 7, and it works fine. Light and efficient as far as I can tell.

Do I REALLY need the outgoing functionality? Don't know really, not a security expert, but apart from home or work, where I connect behind routers, I connect in other offices where trust is relative and on public hotspots too, where I don't know who is on the network, and prefer to have the added security, when connecting to an unknown network, to stop CERTAIN programs from communicating at all with the outside. Windows built-in outbound connection management is kind of cumbersome when set on block, no pop ups, everything has to be individually designated... not practical at all.

If you know how to do that in a practical way through windows firewall it would be great.
