Mixer volume settings are not saved after reboot

I lower microphone volume to zero and mute it as seen on the screenshot. These settings are saved after I shutdown my laptop.

However when I reboot or make a full shutdown the microphone gets unmuted and its volume is being set to overall speaker volume. Why these settings keep resetting after reboot?

Check other programs, such as Skype, that are in the startup. One of them may be unmuting it.

Nope. It don't work. The main question here is why these settings are being reset after reboot, while simple shutdown (hybrid shutdown) keeps them?

"Hybrid shutdown", do you mean "Hibernate"? With Hibernate the system settings and programs are retained when you restart. However, with a "normal" shutdown they are not and programs that are in the startup initialize again. Thus what I said about some program in startup COULD be causing the mic to be enabled. With a laptop that could be the built in web cam mic.

When you press shutdown and power up your pc, this will be "fast startup". However, when you press reboot or execute "shutdown /s /t 0" in your command line, you will get cold boot (like in windows 7 and earlier).

The Windows "fast boot" (which can be turned off) acts similar to Hibernate.
