I think the problem started after i upgraded the realtek drivers but i cant be sure. The surround sound i have on my system just stopped working. Currently, i only have the stereo sound. Also my microphone isnt working at all.

Computer Model: MSI GT60 2OC
Windows 8.1
8gb ram
Intel i7
480ssd and 1tb hdd
Latest realtek hd audio driver

I have tried reinstalling my whole system to fix it but it still didnt work.

If reinstalling the "whole system" did not fix it, I would suspect something other than the Realtek drivers.

What speaker system do you have? 2.1, 5.1 or 7.1? Is the speaker type set correctly in the Sound Panel, Playback section for the type of speaker system you have?

In the Sound Panel/Recording section, Stereo Mix should be set as default recording device.

It should be 7.1. As for the reset, i just used the reset function from windows and provided the windows file. I'm not sure if it removes the old drivers since right now, there's 2 realtek hd audio drivers and microphone. I've tried to configure the 7.1 surround in the options but the sound doesn't play when i test it.

Go to the Device Manager, Sound section and uninstall all the Sound Devices but DO NOT uninstall any driver. Then restart the PC and when Windows starts it will detect and reinstall the Realtek (and HDMI audio if you have that).

I have done that about 9 times now. Tried both the stock and latest driver from Realtek. Is there a way to completely remove all audio drivers? When i uninstall it, the drivers auto install from somewhere after i restart my computer.

I even went as far as uninstalling the hidden/old drivers. But it still doesn't work.

The High Definition Audio Device drivers are the generic, basic function, Windows installed drivers. I don't know if they offer 5.1 and/or 7.1.

Have you tried the Realtek driver on the Realtek site? www.realtek.com

The thing is, it worked before. I'm just not sure when or what caused it to stop working. The laptop i have is the GT60 2OC from MSI, and it came with Sound Blaster Cinema. Along with my laptop is 2 stereo speaks right under the display on both sides, 2 speakers in the front, and 1 sub woofer on the back. Here's the link for the GT60 2OC.

Check the SoundBlaster Cinema as that may be where the surround is generated/configured.

I have tried that too. However, there is still no sound coming out from the front speakers or the sub woofer.
MSI GT60 2OC Specs

This is the audio it's suppose to have:

2W X2 HD 2 Speakers, 1 subwoofer

The other specs aren't the same but that's almost the same model i have. [besides the ram, storage, and cd drive]
