sound is glitched

So I'm running windows 8. When i go to the sound options in control panel, i do the test button. I get the right sound. But this is on my headphones. For my speakers, everything is fine. But when i plugin my headphones they work as my speakers.. And when i do the test sound, it works. When i go on ANYTHING else, the sound is glitched or when i hear a song i dont hear the voice. plz help..

Are you saying the test tones work OK on both the speakers and headphones, but other sound on both the headphones and speakers bad?

Are you plugging your headphones into the "speaker jack (line-out)"or a "USB" port?

Okay, I got windows 8.1, but when i use the speakers, all sounds work, when i plug in the headphones, the test works, but not sound.

As previously asked, what type of headphones? Do you have one with a 1/8" stereo plug or do they connect via USB?

they connect to the thing to make headphones work, the hole by the mic hole.

Do you have another PC (or a friend) that you can try that headset on to see how it works. Or a different headphone to try on this PC.

i tried my earbuds and there was messed up sound, so its my computer ;-;

You still have never filled in the "My System Spec's" so we have no idea what type of PC you have.

If this is a desktop, plug the headset into the rear green speaker jack and see if the headphones work OK or not.

I can't get anywhere with the ASUS site, to get the audio specs. However they note THX and EAX which are software enhancements to the basic audio. One of those may be causing the problems. Check the configuration of these programs.

It's the headphone port (the hole beside the mic hole) because if your built in laptop speakers work and the multiple headphones don't work then it's the port. I would recommend cleaning the port (blowing it out, getting a thin brush, etc.)

Shadow Tech, the headphone jack works as he reported he hears the test tones.

Do you have the Speakers set as "Stereo"? If they are set to 5.1, 7.1, etc that could be the problem.
