Hi,

i have strange problem. Before my computer play sound, in 70% of cases the volume changes to the higher. I can't see that in mixer (the value doesn't change), but i can hear it. When I turn the volume up/down it changes to the normal volume. It doesn't appear when is something played, it appears only when is computer quiet and other sound appears (it might be sound of windows, music, facebook message notification, anything). My soundcard is from Realtek.

Thank you for help

We will try to help. Please post System Spec's or at least the PC model number.

Can you give us any specific examples of what programs cause this.

One thought, each application has a volume control. If you open the Mixer it should show a volume slider for which applications are being used. Possibly that is causing the volume to change?

I have laptop Dell Inspiron 7537 with Realtek sound card. I think the problem causes the Realtek driver (i tried more versions and problem didn't solve), but when I switched to the Microsoft driver for the sound card, problem didn't appear.

When I open the mixer I see NO change. The value is still the same, but the volume is louder.

But i think the problem is solved now, i use Microsoft driver now.

The Microsoft sound driver is only a generic, basic function, driver.

Did you try the Realtek driver on the Realtek site? If not, give that a try. Download the High Definition Audio Codecs. After Installation you will have to enable and make the Stereo Mix the default Recording device.

I tried the driver from the realtek site and it didn't help. I will use the Microsoft driver till the new version of realtek driver will be released.

I don't think that will help. If it won't work correctly with the current version in which millions are working correctly, it won't work with a newer version. There is some other issue. The Windows installed High Definition driver does not include a Stereo Mix and thus some audio will not work. Proper setup of the Recording Device, with Stereo Mix is critical to some audio devices working or not working. You need the Stereo Mix if you ever want to record audio from Internet sites.
