The above MS catalog only gives me AMD Cabinet file, when extracted nothing even resembles any other Realtek drivers I have had.

Same issue-will not stay installed-where are the newest drivers?

Thanks folks

Where? Did you see my note about the AMD cabinet file?

If you mean the links below the Microsoft catalog link, they just go to the realtek site which does not help at all/

What is the 1st one? I'm not familiar with the update catalog and the cabinet file?

Thanks for your help

Your welcome. The update catalogue, when you accept the add on let's you search for updates and drivers that you can place in a basket till you're done searching, then download them all at once. I believe they're CAB files.(I only tried it once while testing Windows 10)

For a bit more info: Microsoft Update Catalog: Download & save Windows Updates

No soultions?

The Newest, oldest, original, every driver possible for realtek and Asus MB---they will NOT stay installed.

Maybe a cheap sound card with it's own drivers are my answer?

I am at my wits end here. I do not need anything fancy-just sound. I do have a PCI slot open-not sure what type, guess I better check and look into a cheap card.

Sound reasonable-anyone?

Thanks so much

Have you tried Device Manager>Properties to update/rollback the drivers, there is even an event section that might give you some info.

The events are all the same in realtek properties: So this may be the start of the problem.
The Desktop Window Manager is experiencing heavy resource contention.
Reason : CPU resources are over-utilized.
Diagnosis : A sharp degradation in Desktop Window Manager responsiveness was observed.

Device manager has my Echo Layla 3G card, That's for Sonar (Cakewalk) I have had this card for many, many years and never experienced this level of "issues with realtek".

Also the Nvidea audio drivers, including nvidea Hi def audio are in there. I have disabled them a zillion times.

They are not used so perhaps that is the issue-conflict. I will research Nvidea graphics card Hi def audio drivers and realtek and see what I find. Also the event message.

Thanks

Can you run your sound through HDMI, then you don't need Realtek at all. I have my Desktop connected to my HDTV(which is connected to my Home Cinema) that way. At least you'll have sound till the issue is worked out.

That you have an i7 CPU it can't be possibly over utilized, something's wierd . I mean by the look of your specs, over all, you have a mini-monster. The HDMI will use your graphics card though.

No, but good idea. I ran sfc and Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth. Fixed a bunch of issues.
I found a few sites that talked about the error message about over utilize cpu etc.

A few said to try and disable hardware acceleration in IE. IOW, check box for "use software acceleration instead of HW acceleration" I do view many youtube videos, mostly audio recording related or concerts. And I download some using YOuTube downloader-which may be part of this actually.

Not sure what to do. I agree, no way is anything being maxed out. I don't have any games installed either. Just the daw but it does not use the realtek drivers. Although Sonar website and others always say to disable onboard sound.

But my PC is a not a "dedicated daw".

So I'll try and track it and see exactly what I am doing around the time it happens. I will report any findings back here.

Thanks

OK-you did get me to the latest drivers. I have many audio programs installed-like Sonar Platinum, Sound Forge Pro 11 and many others. It may just be that realtek drives cannot handle all the back and forth. I only use the Echo drivers (asio also) for Sonar.

Everything else is realtek drivers.

Might also be part of it.

Thanks for your help
