Not everyone likes Windows AppEvent sounds, and in the past it has been possible to toggle sounds on or off or remove a sound from any event using the sounds control panel applet. Windows 8 rp does not give much of a choice.
Windows 8 continues its deconstruction of what we knew and expected of windows in the sounds department - for instance disabling the showing of sound options for windows logon and logoff with the registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\AppEvents\EventLabels\WindowsLogon\ExcludeFromCPL = 1 etc.
(i.e. you will not be logging off from your desktop anymore, so we won't remind you that it used to be available.)
Sound schemes seem harder to get to work than in Windows 7 does anyone have any tips? I have followed some of the sound tutorials on sevenforums without any joy yet
