Solved HDMI audio "not plugged in" error for ACER Aspire V3-572PG

I recently purchased an ACER Aspire V3-572PG computer and when hooking it up to my receiver, or TV, via HDMI I cannot get audio to play.

I have tried going into Control Panel >> Sounds and setting HDMI as default but it seems that the system does not even recognize that the HDMI is plugged in. .. at least not the audio component, as the video is working fine.

It seems that I have all the latest drivers (Windows High Definition Audio Device; 6.3.9600.16384; 8/22/2013 ... Realtek High Definition Audio; 6.0.1.7300 7/22/2014), with the relevant driver apparently being the Windows High Def Audio Device driver. I have downloaded more recent drivers from Windows Update Catalog but when I try to update them (via Device Manager) I get the message "the most recent driver is already installed."

The HDMI cable does not appear to be an issue, as it was working with the previous laptop and both cables have the same problem.

Any viable solution would be greatly appreciated. I am going to try playing audio via the headphone jack but the HDMI port is preferred, to minimize the # of cables.

Thanks in advance,
Rob

For anyone else having this issue, I happened to find a solution here: Digital Audio (HDMI) shows not Plugged In Windows 8.1 - Microsoft Community .. specifically, I used the Intel update tool to update the graphics driver. I somehow managed to install a newer Realtek driver (6.0.1.7378) before doing this, but it wasn't working until I updated the graphics driver. Now HDMI is plug n' play for both audio and video.
