    Problem with Audio Devices Connecting/Disconnecting

I have noticed that when a program or something using sound is running, if I unplug my speaker device and then either plug it back in, or plug in a new audio playback device, the sound will stop working altogether and within a matter of about two minutes, the entire computer will become unresponsive to the point that I have to manually restart it via pressing the button. This problem did not occur in Windows 7 (previous version I had); so therefore, I know it is not a problem with the CPU.

I'm not really understanding what you're doing. Why would you bother touching any playback settings when it is playing well to begin with? (I ask because the answer will likely influence my response.)

Are you talking about physical speakers/headphones or different audio interfaces running on the computer?

Hello, and a late welcome to EightForums. Download the drivers for your audio card and reinstall them. If it carries on, it is a hardware problem indication that the hardware is incompatible with Windows 8. BTW, how old is your computer?
