Microphone not being recognized, followed every step

I've been looking everywhere for a solution to this: Headphones Working Fine, Mic is not.

The Problem: Asus Laptop with Windows 8.1 with only one audio input won't read Turle Beach X12's

Description:
1. The Internal MIC works fine and it works everytime even when I plug in an external one.

2. When I plug in either external headphone (Headphone's got 2 jacks, green which is for sound and red which is for recording) into the Only ONE audio input there is, Windows gives a popup with its current Audio devices plugged in. The headphones work fine, but it just wont read the MIC. This is what pops up when I plug in the external MIC or headphone.

3. Now, When I go to the lower right corner and select Recording Devices from the sound panel, it won't show any external or added device when I plug in the new device. It would just show my internal MIC and something called Stereo MIX, but not my Microphone.

4. Okay, Now when I check Device Manager, and try to update all the Realtek Audio drivers it would just say "everything is latest with latest drivers installed", which is obvious since Windows 8.1 has bundled everything with my laptop.

5. So, This is basically the problem. I've added everything here in this post, if anyone can find some solution to this that'd be helpful or else I'm going to write a long letter to ASUS to sort their rubbish straight by making 2 HOLES instead of ONE, since every headphone there is has 2 JACKS.. So, we need 2 HOLES for 2 JACKS.
I will buy the appropriate audio/mic splitter to use with this headset, but before I throw away any more money I want to get the mic itself working. I belief the first step would be getting it to be recognized on the recording devices GUI...
Guys, Your Help is Needed!

What is the specific ASUS model number? I can't research your problem without that.

A comment not directly related to your problem. Stereo Mix should be set as the default recording device. Then whatever device is plugged in, e.g. microphone, will be used. Stereo Mix is also needed if you want to record any audio from the internet.,

On the ASUS forum they refer to that as the number for the Wi-Fi card. I tried to find that under the laptop models on the ASUS support site but nothing like that was listed.

I went through the entire ASUS manual and the only thing I found is the jack is a combination mic and headphone jack. If a mic is connected it should detect a microphone. If a headphone is connected it should detect the headphone

It doesn't say what type of plug, but I assume a standard 3.5mm stereo plug (tip, ring, sleeve). An iPhone or PS/4 game plug which is tip, ring, ring, sleeve would not work.

I have the same problem. The microphone I have works on other computers but not mine. the one thing I've noticed different is the selection options when plugging in the mic - headset, headphone, speaker but no microphone is an option. I've tried everything and can't get computer to recognize this microphone. I'm using windows 8, acer aspire e1-510-4413

I've also tried using USB input adapter and computer recognizes the microphone with that but doesn't work, no sound is picked up. I keep spending money trying to get this to work with no luck.

I've been on the ACER site but can't find any specs on what type of jack you have.

I tried StartTech's Virtual 7.1 USB external sound card, computer recognizes it but not the microphone. Why would my selections be limited to headset, headphone and speaker while not offering selection of a microphone yet it's suppose to support microphones. no external microphone seems to work on this computer. If it's designed for a microphone there must be a fix I just can't find it

just did a system restore and took a picture of the selection I get when plugging in my mic

headset.gifit is suppose to be able to handle a mic as well speaker so why don't I have a mic selection? this is the difference between other computers that this mic works with.
