Solved Keyboard volume control not working on new ASUS laptop

Hello,

I bought a new ASUS laptop a week ago. I was just watching something on Netflix and when I tried to decrease/increase the volume with the keyboard controls, it did not work. The mute button does not work either. Is there a way to fix this? I am hoping the three keys (mute/decrease/increase volume) are not working because I am supposed to change some settings.

Thanks for your help in advance,
Sincerely,

Esteban

Do these volume controls work with other PC audio? e.g. play an MP3 and see if they work.

Go thru the manufacturers software, somewhere in there should be the setting for the Function Keys.
All Laptop manufacturers install their own driver for what functions they require. The driver will be on the ASUS website. Seems to be listed as "ATKACPI driver and hotkey-related utilities". You may have removed it as being unnecessary manufacturers bloat.

It stops working on my laptop with some Applications, I assume the service stops and is restarted by going to the manufacturer's software and setting it again.
You can just use FN+F key on mine, not having to use the FN as well is just for convenience.

Fireberd: The keys do not work in other PC audio. I tried playing a dvd and I tried Itunes. nothing.

Helmut: I installed the ATKACPI driver and hotkey-related utilities and my computer restarted. It is still not working. Any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Esteban

I would either call ASUS support or take it back for exchange.
