    Windows 8.1

There are no specfific Windows 8 driver downloads for the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R rev. 2 board on the Gigabyte web site. Latest OS supported for that board was Windows 7 and the specific Realtek audio driver for that board seems to be / posted 10/25/2012.

Before upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8.x, you should have removed both the Realtek audio driver and the Dolby Home Theater software. Then after the upgrade to Windows 8.x re-install both Realtek audio driver and then the Dolby Home Theater software. Seems like those two get lost during the upgrade on some systems. Remember, Realtek audio driver should be installed first, then reboot and install Dolby Home Theater afterwards.

Open the Sound control panel and check which audio device is the Default Device. If realtek high definition audio is not the default device, right-click on it and select "Set as default device".

if I click the Dolby tab of speakers properties I have the option of attachment 1, in '7 it looked like attachment 2

Facebook theatre view in Metro browser
Just recently, opening photos in Facebook causes the annoying theatre view to open beneath the previous page, obscuring the photo. Has anyone else experienced this? Unless something has changed in the last Win8 update it must be a Facebook thing.

Home Theatre
I think Windows 8 will be great for people like me with Home Theatre setups, with the big tiles everything is a lot easier to see. I hope MS puts a lot of effort into MCE as I can see them becoming the Apple of Media consumption. Once the online store starts selling Music and Movies etc, I can see...

Windows 8 as a Home theatre: which is the best input?
Because I believe Windows 8 will translate pretty well to a 10-foot interface depending on input. Assume that a keyboard is available for typing Mouse: the mainstay, but you'll have to have a surface to run the mouse on and it could be a little tricky Kinect: Works pretty good for the...
