    Cannot Play MIDI [SOLVED]

    I just built this PC about a month ago and until yesterday MIDI playback wasn't an issue.

    Currently MPC return the following error:

    File Source (Async.)::Output
    MIDI Parser::Out
    Media Type 0:
    majortype: MEDIATYPE_Midi {7364696D-0000-0010-8000-00AA00389B71}

    PowerTabs tells me that "There are no MIDI output devices available on this machine". GuitarPro will not even start.

    All other audio is working perfectly. What could be causing this?

    EDIT: I was able to rectify this by reinstalling the audio drivers from my mobo's driver dvd. I'd still like to know how it happened so as to avoid the issue in the future, so any input would be appreciated.
