Had windows 7, sound worked for quite awhile with my toshiba laptop. Installed the realtek driver and about 2-3 months later the sound stopped working. When plugged into TV w headphone jack it works (at least the last time I did this). I unplugged and the sound worked again for about 2 days and then mid-song cut out and have not worked since. Any suggestions? Have checked on the sound card etc and all is working fine (so it says haha).

If there is an HDMI cable plugged in, Windows automatically switches the default audio playback device from the "Speakers" (RealTek) to the HDMI Audio. If this is the case, you must manually change the default audio playback device to the Speakers. This is done in the Sound Panel, Playback section.

The "normal" operation is for the "Speakers" to be the default audio playback device. When an HDMI cable is connected it automatically changes the default to the HDMI. When The HDMI cable is disconnected it automatically switches back to the Speakers.

Make sure you have both the RealTek and ATI HDMI drivers from Toshiba

If it automatically switches back to the speakers, why would I need to manually need to switch back to the speakers? And okay I will download the hdmi driver. I have the latest Realtek studio) audio driver.
