Problems With Microphone, 8.1 related?

I just bought a Razer Carcharius headset a few days ago. When I plugged it in the first time, everything functioned fine. Now, Skype isn't picking up my microphone. I don't see the headset in Device Manager or Control Panel's Sound settings either. This seemed to happen after I downloaded Razer Surround and restarted my computer. Are there known problems with microphones and 8.1? Is there a way to fix this? I am using a laptop, by the way. Thanks!
