Sound Popping/Crackling

All right, so my sound is popping at loud frequencies. For example, if I click on my volume adjuster to hear the different sample levels, little pops and crackles can be heard. I was starting to notice some crackling when I got the Logitech g35. Thinking the g35 was faulty, I got a refund and a got a sound card (Xonar DX) and a non-usb headset (MMX 300). I first noticed the crackles on the system sounds at this moment. So I tried all kind of different drivers for the xonar. But to no avail, the problem still occurred on headphones and speakers. Then I removed my graphic card, the soundcard, all kinds of usb ports, and the sound popping is still happening on the on-board sound which I had never noticed until the g35. So, thinking maybe I had messed some windows file, I reinstalled windows 8 and reset the BIOS. The crackling is still there. I also tried using one of each ram sticks.

This is really frustrating! I am a competitive COD player and the season has already started. Please help me :D

Popping and crackling has been an issue with some. Wi-Fi is one known cause. Old drivers are another, for both the sound and video. Some system monitor and configuration programs can also cause this. The is no "one fix", from what I've seen - on the Windows 7 forum and the Dell users forum. Its not as prevalent as it was but there are still occasional reports of problems.

Sadly, the DPC Latency Checker is not valid for Windows 8 so that very useful tool for trying to track the problem down, can't be used.

It is not caused by the networking because I have tried disconnecting my lan cord and I do not have a wifi card currently connected.
It's also not an old driver since I did a fresh system installation.
I know that the DPC latency checker doesn't work on windows 8 but is there no other way to check?

EDIT: I just don't understand how the problem suddenly occurred.

Yes I have tried different headphones + speakers. This problem occurs on the on-board sound and on the Xonar DX sound card.

MEASURED INTERRUPT TO USER PROCESS LATENCIES
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________
The interrupt to process latency reflects the measured interval that a usermode process needed to respond to a hardware request from the moment the interrupt service routine started execution. I updated BIOS but that did not solve problem. I am going to run prime95 on default cpu settings for an hour.
Any ideas!? I am starting to think its the PSU.

EDIT: No errors with Prime95. What's happening?

I'm not really up on Windows too much as I just moved from mac but all I can say is I had crackling sound and I used this info

Link right here

and determined it was to do with Nvidia driver.

If you've updated the Realtek driver from Realtek, uninstall it and try using the driver on the ASUS site.

The Video drivers was one of my first noted potential causes.

Have you updated the drivers and did it fix it?

The problem isn't behind the audio drivers as the popping occurs with and without the Realtek drivers. It also still happens when I install an actual soundcard. Nvidia graphics isn't the problem since I stripped (and fresh installed windows) my case from everything but CPU+ssd+ram and the popping is still there.
This is super fustrating. I have been trying to fix it during the last 12hours and right now I am checking all the cables inside the case.

I already tried that like 25 times XD. Like I said, the problem isn't behind the audio.

I am starting to think it is the power supply, I can't even get the computer on!

All right, so my computer isn't turning on anymore. I am guessing (and hoping) this has to do with the popping. The power supply is not faulty as I have tried another one and it did not turn on. Is there a way to determine if my motherboard is faulty? The 5volt LED goes on but nothing happens when I press the on/off button of the case (I have also tried the screwdriver on mobo method).

Did you try jumping pin 14 (green) to a black ground wire on the 24 pin power connector? That should turn on the power supply and if that works, either something wrong with the front panel power switch, its not connected properly or a motherboard problem.

I'll try this in a bit. So if it's not the power supply and the power switch, is it the motherboard for sure?

Did you connect both power supply connections to the motherboard? The 24 pin and the 4 (or 8) pin power connectors? and the PCIe power connection to the video card?

There can be other possibilities, such as a bad CPU, but if the power supply turns on by jumpering pin 14 to ground and the PC works, it only leaves the power switch (and connection to the motherboard) and the logic on the motherboard.
