Headphones not working on Acer Aspire 5820T-6825

I upgraded to Windows 8 and now I noticed that the headphones won't work. First I followed some troubleshooting that concluded on uninstalling the audio drivers including some Intel version of the driver and then when I rebooted then the sound worked.
Now it happened again and I really don't want to be uninstalling the driver every time I want to use the headphones.
I downloaded the latest driver on Intel site and updated but no results.

I checked on sound settings and there are no headphones detected. Maybe there is some way of forcing the detection.

Name of the Intel to driver: AUD_Win8_Win7_6.0.1.6914_PV.exe

Thank you for your attention.

I just uninstalled the driver and rebooted to make it work and I don't see the headphones in the mixer or sound card settings ( playback tab ).

Ok I restarted without the headphones plugged and sound works now.

The steps where :

1) Install latest sound Realtek driver from Intel. That takes two reboots, one to uninstall the current driver and one to install the new driver which auto starts on the next session.
2) Open Device Manager and uninstall High Definition Audio Device ( not the Realtek ).
3) Reboot and there you go.

Hope this helps.

Bad news it happened again! I needed to unsintall the driver and reboot again. Before it lasted more than two boots so that's why I thought it was fixed.
Thank you for your attention.

Forgot to mention that maybe is a two drivers conflict. Is there something like a System Summary in Windows 8 ?

Found System Summary

Right now there's no problem with audio. I'll do another System Summary when it fails.

I set the Logitech usb phones as default communications device since they have a microphone too.
I set the jack phones as default sound device.

I have to switch back & forth between them in mixer though, depending on which ones I want to use. :)

Still no sound yet.

I don't have that many options to switch on.
Only stereo which doesn't work with headphones on.

Maybe the only thing working is the switch that turns off the speakers still I don't see headphones identified by the computer and the signal still goes to the speakers.

The is a digital output from realtek but I think it's bogus since is saying it has an optical jack and I don't see anything there.

Where the headphones go outside says SPDIF I think. It's very small.

They are the same output

The Headphones and Speakers are joined in one device. When I enter in the speaker configuration I can see the 3.5mm jack and that's why the signal in the mixer is the same but still no sound.
