Issues with sound drivers not being digitally signed for 64 bit version for a CQ50-142US Notebook so went back to Windows 7 Enterprise 64 bit till final version comes out for this system. In my Google searches looks like quite a few people having same issues. No sound.Conexant High Definition sound.
The same drivers should work for both Win 7 64 bit and Win 8 64 bit. I've used the same drivers on my own PC's and on clients PC's. You may get a message about not signed or approved by Microsoft but I've ignored that and installed and no problems. All the sound functions work.
I tried just about everything except a roll back but when the install was fresh the sound worked and then I forgot to turn off auto update and it did a sound update overnight and that was it no sound tried installing or removing drivers etc. So back to W-7 Enterprise 64 bit on that one for a while. Now that I am back to W-7 I really miss a lot of the features of W-8.1 preview. I have it on my desktop and dv9720us Laptop with no issues running great can't wait for the final release. Thanks. My friend said they should add some of the new W-8 features to W-7 and call it 7.0 or something like that for the people who do not like 8.
