No Sound from X-FI Xtreme Gamer

This seems to be a problem with all X-fi cards.

I installed W8 yesterday with the X-Fi fatality professional beta drivers, which I guess are the same for both card. (somewhere around june 2012).

The workaround of BunnyJ works good as hell, and I appreciate it a lot (I was going to open the pc, plug off the card and use the integrated one, but I would miss my ps3 sound ;()

The reg key, I guess it will reset all the sound config, right? That's not good. I changed the line-in to microphone, unmuted the optical and activated Crystalizer.

I think that is faster to simply swap modes two times than configuring the stuff everytime I boot. or am I wrong?

If the reg just activate the sound without having to configure all again, would be good.

    Thanks.

The problem with all X-Fi Cards under windows 8 is that Console launcher can't save your settings every time you reset your system, there's a solution that I' tried it
on my X-fi XtremeMusic and actually worked, just google "PAX MASTER PCI XFI ALL OS Driver Suite V2.35 Default Tweak Edition" , with some luck you'll be at the forum from PAX Drivers...

Tried that driver suite, but no luck (My card is PCIe and not PCI and the PCIe edition of PAX is for Titanium).

Anyway, I have a better fix:

Do you guys have hibernation? I see on many forums that the problem is SSD related and no, Is just hibernation related. And because we the SSD users have hibernation off...

The problem is the way Windows 8 saves the config when shutting the computer.

If you activate hibernation, configure your card and the shut down (not reboot), the config will be saved. Then you can disable hibernation again, reboot, what you want.

I guess that if you want to change more options, you will need to do this again. Anyway, better than nothing.

Not sure if we're not supposed to link to them, bu the PAX drivers are located here:

New Official PAX MASTER PCI XFI ALL OS Driver Suite V2.35 Default Tweak Edition - Discussion

    Going to try them now.

This is what has worked for me for my Xtreme Gamer and W8 Pro x64:

    Install the Creative beta driver
Make whatever changes you want in the Creative Audio Control Panel
    Put the computer to sleep
    Wake the computer from sleep
    Shut down the computer

When you start the computer, settings will have been saved and the sound will work.

Anybody still using x-fi xtreme gamer on windows 8.1 ????
Hi, i'm curious if anybody is still using their x-fi xtremegamer soundcard on windows 8.1 OS. I really wanted to dump it and use my onboard realtek ALC892. But, the audio to my surprise was inferior. Odd that a card I acquired in 2008 still beats out a modern onboard sound solution even...
