Hi Mieza,

I had the same problem with XP (No Sound) at all after Win 8 pro Upgrade..
Thing is I looked that hard I forgot the link Page.

This is the Microsoft (Hotfix) link, but like I said can't remember the site.
Hotfix link..(http://hotfixy4.microsoft.com/Windows%
20XP/latest/UAA HD Audio OOB release/5011/free/198658 intl i386 zip exe

You Download Hotfix, It will upload to your C:/ drive.
Goto settings..Device manager..Network controller, in their you
will see (Update Driver) click (Update Driver) and if will install (Xear 3D) CMI Audio.

You should. have all bells ringing.

I also have no (Wifi) Win 8 knocked out my (Creatix 802 11g) Driver.
Cant find a replacement yet.

I Have the zip folder on my deasktop, if any moderator can tell me how
to upload it, (198658_int zip).

BF.

OK, i believe i have the solution. I have a 7 year old Dell Latitude D510 which i ungraded to Win8 from XP Pro this week.

And, like you, the audio didn't work. Your Inspiron and my Latitude use the exact Sigmatel driver.

This is what you do - it worked perfectly for me, so here's hopin' - download the one listed here to your desktop:

Drivers and Downloads | Dell [United States]

Click on it to unpack to c:\dell\drivers\Rxxx (sound driver) Now, go into Device Manager, and under Sound, go into properties and under 'driver' chose 'update driver' and chose to manually update. Chose path c:\dell\drivers\Rxxx\...\WMP and click OK. Restart and sound should work.

Worked like a charm for me, so i hope it does for you as well. Actually, the driver for my Latitude may have even been older than the one for you Inspiron.

Good luck and let us know how it goes,

Ray
