I have an ASUS 880 G M/B and installed the 8 RTM. I use the internal sound card not the HD6870.
1. Natively it installed the MS HD device (dated a couple of years back) so I updated it to the 7 driver from the ASUS website. Worked fine until it came out of sleep sometimes. Music catches and crackles. Checked that the speakers were not the issue but plugging in headphone. Same problem so speakers are fine. Reboot and it is all good.
2. Tried the Realtek drivers for Win 8 as per this forum rather than the ASUS one and the same thing happens. All good to begin with but sometimes after sleep it goes crap again.
3. Removed this driver and allowed it to install the latest MS driver now dated July 2012 and same issue.
Rebooting fixed it but then it occurs again after coming out of sleep.
Any suggestions and is this a common issue?
