    need help with adware

    hi guys,

recently i was visiting a lot of sites for help with my Excel/Visual Basic problem. Now every day my www.yahoo.com starting page is changed to HOME.FIZZW.COM (yousearchdirect) and even with the adware removal program i ran...nothing changes.

Anyone knowing how to get rid of this?

    thanks

    Jeff

Look in control panel / add remove progs and remove anything that you dont know what is. It include IE bars and such soft. Use MSCONFIG to check what is beeing loaded in startup.

Although I'm not familiar with Win8 browser options, I assume it is the same as Win7 with IE9. look under manage add-ons>search providers and make sure that one isn't in there, and make sure there are no add-ons with that name as well. Then change your home page in "Internet options".

Are you sure you removed the virus? I don't know how well antiviruses are performing in win 8 o.0

well right now i do not use any AV, since my F-SECURE is not working under Win8.

But it is not a virus, it is a software redirection i have. Maybe uninstalling IE and reinstall would help?

It is nothing to be afraid of, just bothers me.

Here is an IE troubleshooter for IE9 from the Win7 forums. While I don't recommend downloading anything from it (Don't know about compatability), you can try to manually follow the directions to see if you can fix IE10: Troubleshooting Internet Explorer Issues - Windows 7 Forums

I'd be very very careful without an antivirus. I know many don't work well with Win8 yet, but its still dangerous.
