When I restart (not that often), but today I changed the settings for My Fancy Cache program and that required a restart.

While many here complain that after cold start or restart Metro pops up, you guys go to the desktop with one click.

But everytime I have to go to Task Manager to kill MS Lync, I really do not use that, do not need it neither.

So any ideas how I can remove this from my pc without regretting this after.

thanks

Jeff

Hi there
can't you just Uninstall it -- try control panel =>programs and features=>change / uninstall. (select Ms office).

presumably if you want to re-install just do the same process - ensure you keep a copy of the .iso / .exe file.

I'm running office 2010 so I don't think I've got this particular piece of software installed anyway - Enterprise version (or VL version) might have this included automatically but you should be able to "Not install" it.

cheers

In msconfig, remove MS Lync from the Startup section. It doesn't uninstall it, but it stops it from starting up when you start your computer up.

I'll have to check my Lync install but I believe you can go into the options and tell it not to launch at Windows start up.

Ok thanks guys, I will use the MSCONFIG option. My only worry do delete something and get a corrupted OS.

Open MS Lync, go to the settings/options window (I've never used Lync), and look for an option that says something like, "Start when Windows starts". Make sure it's disabled.

I checked my Lync install and that's exactly where it is. When you bring up your options on the left side select Personal and in the right Windows you uncheck that option.
